We’re proud to share that Fellow Digitals, together with our valued client Coalitie voor Inclusie, has won the Dutch Interactive Award 2025 in the Communities category! This prestigious award honors outstanding digital projects in areas such as AI, Content, Brand, and Community Building. And this year, our joint effort — the Inclusie Forum — stood out among the best. A digital platform where true connection and accessibility take centre stage.
About the Dutch Interactive Awards
The Dutch Interactive Awards (DIA) are the leading prizes for the very best interactive work by Dutch digital makers. Since 2010, the awards have been presented annually by Emerce and the Dutch Digital Agencies (DDA).
There are 15 categories – including AI, Content, E-commerce and Communities – in which Gold and Silver awards are given to the most outstanding projects. Each year, the DIA PRO’s also recognize the top digital professionals in the industry.
Recognition for Accessibility and Inclusion
So, what made our project win?
At first glance, the Inclusie Forum might not dazzle with flashy features or jaw-dropping design. It’s not the biggest platform, nor the most polished. But what makes it exceptional lies at its core: it is built by and for the community — a space that lives its values. It’s active, growing, and it delivers on its promise: connecting people who often face barriers to connection.
Take Peter Eggen, a member of the forum. Peter lives with physical disabilities and often struggles to access public spaces, transportation — and yes, digital platforms too. He’s not alone. Some community members are blind or deaf, relying on screen readers and other assistive tools just to be part of the digital world.
It’s possible — but is it welcoming? Is it inclusive by design, or just accessible by effort?
Our answer: We can — and must — do better.
Building platforms that truly include
At Fellow Digitals, we believe accessibility isn't just a checkbox — it’s a foundation. Every detail matters: from structured content and intuitive navigation to features like screen reader support, simplified interfaces, and adjustable contrast or color modes.
And the Inclusie Forum is just the beginning.
Accessibility isn’t a feature we “add” to some projects — it’s a principle we apply across all platforms. Some tools are optional (like toggling an “Accessibility Mode”), but many improvements benefit everyone. After all, who ever complained about clearer navigation, readable content, or easier-to-find support?
A win for the whole community
This award is not just a trophy — it’s recognition that inclusion matters. We’re honored to build platforms that empower people, remove obstacles, and foster real community.
To Peter, and everyone in the Inclusie Forum: thank you for trusting us. To others building digital communities: let’s make accessibility the norm, not the exception.
Inclusion is more than just a nice goal—it’s a critical business strategy that drives success, innovation, and growth. When every employee—regardless of ability—feels valued and heard, you create an environment where everyone is empowered to contribute, learn, and grow together. And that’s when your company can truly unlock its full potential.
